Prenatal, pregnancy or postnatal - What to eat to support your body and your baby
Consuming the right nutrients for your body whilst trying to conceive or during pregnancy and after, is key to maintaining a healthy balanced system.
You’ll want to support your body as much as possible by ensuring that you’re eating well. By sticking to a healthy balanced diet of complete proteins, calcium rich foods, whole grains, fruit and vegetables will help you during the perinatal period. Other nutrients such as maca powder, folic acid, zinc, iron, probiotics and choline found in foods will help you and your baby on your journey.
This evening medicinal cookery class incorporates nutritious foods into exciting and tasty recipes in a simplistic way. You will learn what ingredients can enhance your body, maximise your energy and keep you full and satisfied throughout the day. At KitchenJoy we will offer guidance and tips to help you choose healthier options.
You will learn to cook a wide range of simple, healthy dishes using fresh and easily available ingredients. You will discover the medicinal benefits of selected herbs and spices with an explanation of the importance of certain nutrient groups.
We will be joined by Lui Yeung, an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility at Zita West Clinic. Lui will be discussing the importance of particular foods based on Chinese Medicine, to enhance ones fertility and support one's body during pregnancy as well as post-partum.
Sample recipes include:
Plant-based smoothie with maca powder, chia seeds, sunflower seeds & spinach
Asian roasted salmon with quinoa + greens with a tahini dressing
Chocolate beetroot brownies with coconut yoghurt
Our hands-on cookery classes at Kitchen Joy’s Kitchen in Chiswick include the ingredients, food preparation and cooking equipment, and drinks.
